After leaks after leaks for months, the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro – the latest and greatest from Google is now officially out and available for pre-order.
The Price – The Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are priced lower than comparable iPhones and One Pluses. The Pixel 6 starts at GBP 599 for 128GB storage, and the Pixel 6 Pro starts at GBP 849 for 128 GB of storage. Both the phones come in a variety of bright and unique colors, which surprisingly look similar to the renders that have been leaked for all these months.
Inside, Pixel 6 and 6 Pro is powered by the same Tensor chip that is custom-made by Google for Pixel hardware. In terms of numbers, the CPU is 80% faster, and GPU is a whopping 370% faster than previous Pixel phones.

The camera system, which in my opinion is the best in the smartphone world, has been given a huge upgrade. The Pixel is now equipped with a 50 MP primary camera ( Pixel 5 had 8 MP ), 12MP ultrawide, and 48 MP 4x optical zoom telephoto camera. With the new upgraded camera system, Google now claims that it can capture more than 150% more light than previous editions.
The Pixel 6 is equipped with a 6.4 inch 1080p 90HZ OLED while the Pixel 6 Pro comes with a slightly larger 6.7 inch 1440p 120Hz OLED display. With bigger phone comes a bigger battery, Pixel 6 comes with a 4600 MaH battery, while Pixel 6 Pro comes with a 5000 MaH battery. Also note that Pixel 6 does not support mm-wave 5G while Pixel 6 Pro do support mm-wave. So if you live in a region where mm-wave is available, then Pixel 6 Pro is your only choice here.
With the new Tensor chip and ML magic, Pixel now boasts some exciting camera tricks with its computational photography. The new algorithm now decreases stray light, which means that photos of people with dark skin which previously looked washed out should be corrected.
Face Blue promises to unblur images that were taken of people in the movement and keep faces sharp. Motion capture is meant to capture long exposure shots like a streak of car lights without the need for a tripod. Google’s magic eraser would be helpful to remove distracting/unwanted objects from a photo.
Apart from all these cool camera tricks, Google now claims that it can transcribe your voice for voice typing without the need to send the sample to its cloud servers. Also, without the internet, the voice typing service is personalized to your history – meaning you don’t need to fix the spelling of Pravin instead of Praveen every time you voice type. Note, everything I mentioned above is all done on the phone, and no data is transferred over to the cloud.
With the pricing Google offers its Pixel smartphones, it seems like a no-brainer to pick up the Pixel for Christmas. But with the new Tensor chip, you should probably wait for the full review before you pre-order your Pixel.
